Customer Profile; Firm of George Ritch
At East Fingask, Oldmeldrum, farm manager Kenny Alexander works by the motto ‘if you want a job done right, you have to buy the right machine.’ The KV i-Drill pro is currently fulfilling that purpose on the 750-acre arable and beef farm, where he has worked for the past 26 years. “I like KV, they are strong made. We had a KV power harrow for three years and it was the best one we’d ever had, so we decided to stick with the same make.
“The previous drill was a DF2, and we wanted this one so that we didn’t have to replace the front box as often. It has saved us a huge amount of time – last year, we sowed 400 acres in 10 days. I’d say it cuts out two fills a day – we can now easily sow 50 acres a day, and it takes no longer to fill it,” said Kenny. “It’s got so many practical features – this is the machine for the future, without question,” he added.
Having recently moved to HRN, Kenny says he has been delighted with the service so far, and the entire fleet of three tractors at East Fingask are now all John Deeres. “I’ve never lost a day’s work with a John Deere yet – the reliability is so much better and the back-up is great, they never see you stuck.”
