Get to know Jim McKay
Hello, my name is Jim McKay and I am the Ground Care Territory Manager for HRN. I cover the North region which consists of the north of Aberdeen, up to Caithness and all the way to the west towards the Isles.
You have recently joined the HRN Sales Team, what did you do before and what made you want to join HRN?
I have been with HRN since early November 2022 and before this, I was employed in sales in the Office Equipment Business. There are a lot of similarities in the roles from building rapport with clients to the general workload with the main difference being the products and services that HRN provide. The company provide excellent internal and external training ensuring knowledge and competency from the initial meeting with the customer. This allows me to ascertain their needs, offer and provide the correct products and services to ensure what they are buying is fit for purpose and ensure I have done the job to the client’s satisfaction which can lead to repeat business.
What has been the most challenging part of your role and how have you overcome it?
For want of repeating myself the hardest challenge is to learn the products and services HRN provide, I am grateful for all the training provided however sometimes you just need to crack on and self-learn also. I am lucky that I know I can rely on the support of my colleagues in this area too as everyone is happy to pass on their knowledge.
What has been your greatest achievement since joining the company?
You always remember the first sale so that is my greatest achievement to date – here’s to many more.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I know I don’t look it but I’m 53 years young, a father of 3 not so young children, massive Aberdeen Football Club fan and in a relationship with my partner Anna for the last 5 years. I am generally a happy-go-lucky chap!
Final question – if you were stuck on a desert island what three Kubota items would you take with you and why?
A cap to save my bald head from getting burnt in the sun, a tyre so I could save myself ala Tom Hanks in Castaway and an RTV to explore the Island, I do like an RTV.
So, ladies and gentlemen, watch out for Castaway 2 featuring HRN’s very own Jim McKay!
