Get to know Wilson Morrison
Introducing Wilson Morrison our Insch Depot Manager & Groundcare Sales Manager.
When did you join HRN, what is your job role and where are you based?
I started with the company in April 2022 as Groundcare Sales Manager. I was then asked to take up a dual role as Depot Manager of Insch which I started in November 2022 and is my current role.
What did you do before you came to HRN?
I have always worked in the Groundcare Industry. I started my career as a Green Keeper at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club at 16 (a lifetime ago) then, after finishing my apprenticeship, I moved to Alford golf club as Head Greenkeeper. An opportunity then arose for me to move to my first sales role with Scottish Grass Machinery who were the Ransome Jacobsen dealer for Scotland.
This franchise was then moved to a new start company called Fairways GM Ltd which I was asked to join and where I worked happily for 19 years holding several roles, moving from Corporate Accounts Manager to Business Development Manager and then Sales Manager.
What made you decide you wanted to join HRN?
After speaking with Stuart Barclay and the management team, I was so excited about the vision they had for the business and their work ethics, I have to say that I have not regretted one moment of my move to HRN.
What has been your greatest achievement since joining the team?
From a sales perspective, selling 30 New Kubota’s to Aberdeenshire council was fantastic but working with the staff at Insch depot and seeing it growing from strength to strength has been very satisfying. We still have a lot of work to do but we are moving in the right direction.
What do you like about the range of equipment that HRN offers and if you had to pick a favourite what would it be and why?
Kubota products are market-leading with a world-class reputation for quality and reliability, and we have just taken on the Redexim franchise which gives HRN another market-leading partner in the Groundcare sector.
To pick a favourite is very hard but I would have to go with the Kubota BX range of tractors. It’s a versatile tractor on a sub-compact frame with great HP and a lift capacity that is suitable for large homeowners, contractors, and small holdings.
What are your hopes for the future?
To be a part of helping grow HRN tractors into the no 1 Groundcare business in Scotland offering market-leading sales, service, and parts support.
Tell us a little bit about you, something that we don’t know?
I’m a season ticket holder with Aberdeen FC and enjoy attending every home game with my grandson (Brodie) and my Dad.
Ah, you’re a season ticket holder for Aberdeen FC, I believe they are currently third in the league, what do you think of their performance this season and what is your favourite match?
The appointment of Barry Robson as our new manager until at least the end of the season has steadied the ship. We are going to finish the season in 3rd spot and march into the Europa League.
My favourite match has to be any Rangers fixture, that is a must-win and means everything to us.
